For each Fruitcake brought in an original wrapping or packing (in other words not open) we will give you FREE studio time FOR ONE PAINTER TODAY in exchange for it. 20 - DRINKING STRAW DAY -- What is believed to be the earliest known straw is dated around 3000 B.C. in a Sumerian tomb made of gold and lapis lazuli. The first straws were thought to have been used to filter out the fermentation byproducts of the drinking beer and tea. The first modern drinking straw made of paper was patented in 1888 by Marvin C. Stone. Here At AOBY the straw is used not only to drink some cool sodas, but also for creation of Original painting features for our ceramic bisque. 24 - EYE CARE DAY -- The two inches that constitute your eyes in your body mass are without a doubt among the most valued possessions we have. For those of us who are lucky enough to be able to have our vision corrected to the point of usefulness, we often have a build up in a drawer somewhere of old but re-usable eyeglasses that just don't work for us any more. These could bring, in skilled hands, the joy of sight to someone someplace.
